Habitat Update

On the Habitat website there's a great article about the work the Shanti Shanti group from Aoyama Gakuin University is doing in Japan raising awareness of housing needs and in fundraising. At just one event they, along with students from two other universities raised $5000 for the Bangladesh Habitat office. The article is here. Thanks to Hinako for the news.

In other Japanese news, I came across an authentic Japanese Buddhist temple in the town of Sarnath. After Siddhartha Gautama became enlightened in Bodhgaya, India, he traveled to Sarnath where he delivered his first sermon and met some of his first followers. Both here and in Bodhgaya, Indian temples are joined with temples in authentic architecture from around the Buddhist world, Tibet, Thailand, China, Japan, and more.
